Bishop T.L. DeWitt was called into the ministry as a young man and accepted it with the fervency applicable to the events that would catapult him into his destiny. He was mentored under the direction of his beloved late grandfather, Deacon Henry Grissett, and late grandmother, deaconess Virginia Grissett. Under their strong influence, he became a member of Mt. Zion in Conway, South Carolina.The Reverend Rufus B. Davis was the pastor and recognized the hand of God on Bishop T.L. DeWitt’s life that led him to Jesus Christ at an early age. Rev. Rufus B. Davis began to utilize him in the church. He became familiar with the different types of hymns and spiritual standards. Bishop T.L. DeWitt then moved to New Jersey. While he was there, he attended United Deliverance Tabernacle under the auspices of Pastor Floyd and Overseer T. Moody. Relocating back to the south, he then joined The Way of the Cross in Conway, South Carolina, under the tutelage of Bishop B.A. Blain and also under his guidance, he received his minister licenses to preach the gospel. Due to his faithfulness and commitment to ministry,Bishop T.L. DeWitt fulfilled many of the auxiliaries’ duties in the church through his leadership and was ordained as an elder in the Lord’s church. Also, Bishop T.L. DeWitt with the Sounds of Praise Pentecostal Fellowship Ministries under the tutelage of Bishop Nathaniel Simmons: served as a Junior Pastor, Regional Evangelist and served on the ordination committed. Bishop T.L. DeWitt affiliated himself with the Southern Grove Missionary Baptist Church; under Dr. David Patterson of Rowland, North Carolina. Also, he was ordained by the Progressive Baptist Association and later became pastor of the Grace Unity Missionary Baptist Church in Laurinburg, North Carolina, and he became pastor of the Goodman Creek Baptist Church family in Cheraw, South Carolina.Bishop T.L. DeWitt, and his wife, Executive Overseer Pastor Dionnie DeWitt, began the Beginning Anew Life Changing Outreach Ministries in McColl, South Carolina. Bishop T.L. DeWitt was consecrated to the office of Bishop and affirmed to the Apostleship by Apostle Sammy Smith of Grace Cathedral Fellowship Ministries. He would later connect with the Sounds of Praise Pentecostal Fellowship Ministries. While he was there, he held the office of Auxiliary Bishop, Regional Adjutant, and Overseer of region four on Province three. Also, Bishop T.L. DeWitt served as Bishop of Public Relations and Bishop of Protocol for the Grace Cathedral Fellowship Ministries. Bishop T.L. DeWitt now serves as the Presiding Prelate of BALCOM Fellowship of Churches. Bishop T.L. DeWitt attended the Bowes Institute of Theology in New Jersey. He attended the Shaw Baptist Seminary Extension under the Instructors of Rev. J.C. Mclean and Rev. Jack Pole. Bishop T.L. DeWitt received an Honorary Doctor of Divinity from the Lamp-Light International Bible College and Seminary. In addition, Bishop T.L. DeWitt received an Associate Degree in Theology and Early Childhood Education. Also, a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Christian Counseling from the Bible Breakthrough International College of Maryland. His Master of Divinity/ Christian Counseling is forthcoming. Bishop T.L. DeWitt is the father of Kason (Nesey), Jamar, Te'ona, Emmanuel, Destinee' (Tayvion), and Darius, and four grandchildren.
